2013 has been a bit of a milestone year for Covet and Acquire.
When I started this blog back in July 2011, I set out to chronicle my personal style evolution -- and share it with anyone who cared to tune in. And let's just say ... it took a while to generate interest.
In fact, it wasn't until this year that I felt that my message --- Real girl, Real body, Real budget -- began to resonate with the style-blog-reading set.
Benchmarks I've been striving for, such as an increase in traffic (still growing ...) and brand recognition (finally!), to getting the opportunity to attend the annual Lucky Fashion and Beauty Bloggers Conference in New York City (OMG!), have finally come to fruition after endless hours of photo taking, editing and nonstop social media.
2013 has afforded me some amazing opportunities -- ones that I can't wait to build on in the next 12 months and beyond. To say I'm grateful/nervous/excited about what the future holds for my blog and I would definitely be an understatement.
So, here's to 2014 and never giving up. May the next year bring us all happiness, good fashion fortune and even more style opportunities in which to sparkle and shine on Covet and Acquire.
Check out my video recap of 2013:
I had been searching for a chunky turtleneck sweater for quite a while -- but couldn't seem to find one that didn't look more cheap than chic -- or, well, chunky.
So, imagine my surprise when, after several failed attempts in the fitting room, I stumbled upon this sweater as I was making my way resignedly out the doors of my local H&M store.
It has the perfect amount of bulk and slouch without being too sloppy -- and it's only $24.95. What's not to love?

What it is: A moisturizing lipstick formulated with organic ingredients and a hint of color. This product is certified organic, gluten/dairy free and is never tested on animals.
Beauty bonus: This lip colour is super moisturizing -- it actually feels more like a lip balm than a lipstick.
Beauty bummer: If a high-shine gloss is what you're after, look elsewhere.
Overall: This product feels very nice on the lips. We loved how the sheer shades could be intensified by a heavier application, or left light for a quick kiss of colour. Whether you're looking for an easy, non-fussy tint or a bolder pout, this lip conditioner can do it.

Available at: Beautymark
Price: Approx. $24

Beauty bonus: This shadow is a beautiful coppery-pink shade that provides a glittery pop of colour that lasts all day with minimal creasing.
Beauty bummer: While it looks like a strong shade in the palette, when applied direct to lids don't skip the primer if you're looking for ultra saturated colour.
Overall: This product from NARS doesn't disappoint. From the velvety black matte palette outside to the beautiful product inside, this shadow is a bold basic not to miss this holiday season.
