In honour of International Women's Day on March 8, Canadian jewelry brand Mejuri has released a campaign honouring its 'community' called Golden Together.
Boasting names like Jenna Lyons, Grace Mahary, Annie Murphy and the company's co-founder Noura Sakkijha, the campaign celebrates strong females. And, of course, a few gilded moments, too.
This limited-edition sweater (the first clothing release by the brand!) was released in celebration of the Golden Together initiative. Full proceeds from the sale of each Golden Crew Sweatshirt ($95) will go to the Mejuri Empowerment Fund, which works to support and grow the next generation of leaders.
Add in the fact that the French terry cotton sweater is also pretty chic and it's basically a no-brainer to pick one up. ;)
I love a layered jewelry look. Not only does it add so much visual interest to a look, but it also enables you to wear more of your favourite pieces at one time. Hello, win-win.
If you're new to the layered look, here are a few of my favourite tips below.
1. Mix metals — Don't be afraid to wear pieces of different metal colours. I love wearing sterling silver with gold. Doing so makes a look more unique. I typically skew more toward yellow gold, but I like to throw on one or two other metals such as this sterling silver Mejuri ring.
2. Add texture — Whether you go for different gemstones or a textured ring, I love adding a little texture to my jewelry stacks. A favourite of mine is my David Yurman Paveflex ring. It's a go-to!
3. Tangle free is the way to be — We all love the look of layered necklaces. But the tangling that often comes with it? Not so much. Skip the chain-wrap situation by trying a necklace layering clasp like this one from Etsy. The unique clasp attachment keeps individual chains separate so they don't become a tangled mess throughout the day.
4. Go for the gold — If solid gold pieces aren't in the budget, I always opt for vermeil. While the finish, which sees gold overlaid on sterling silver, often isn't as saturated as, say, gold fill, I find vermeil pieces provide a nice way to stick with precious metals (a better investment, in my mind). I also have super sensitive skin when it comes to base metals like brass, so I find vermeil pieces keep me from going green — literally. #ifyouknowyouknow
5. Invest in quality pieces — While not a layering tip, I think this may be the most important point of all. Rather than purchase trendy pieces that you'll just want to get rid of at the end of the season, I prefer to purchase timeless, quality pieces that I'll cherish for years to come. While this means my jewelry game often looks the same, I'm ok with that. I like knowing that the pieces that I've acquired will be with me for years to come.

Taking a peek inside the new Chanel J12 Eternal Instant book
February 16, 2021 Vancouver, BC, Canada
If you follow fashion, and you have an affinity for timepieces, than you are likely well acquainted with the Chanel J12 watch.
First released in 2000, the watch was the "first black ceramic round watch in history," according to the brand.
With its sleek, sporty look and undeniably chic design, the timepiece has become a coveted classic for Chanel fans and select watch collectors, alike.
To celebrate the J12 creation, the French fashion house has released a hardcover book dedicated to the design. Titled Eternal Instant, the book features history, quotes and imagery that are a nod to the timepiece — and the many codes that tie it to the house of Chanel.
In short, it's a stunning tome that's worthy of any coffee table.
And ... if you're curious about the J12 watch, check out the feature I wrote for Postmedia News about the stunning design.
This Valentine's Day experience brought Paris to Vancouver (sort of)
February 14, 2021 Vancouver, BC, Canada
Happy Valentine's Day!
To celebrate this love-filled day, my partner and I went to try the Valentine's Day Tea service at Ladurée in Vancouver.
Truth be told, the afternoon experience provided a nice break from the routine — not to mention a taste of Paris. The service included several small bites, as well as a showstopper of a heart-shaped cake.
In short, it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon with my love.
Replica Maison Margiela Bubble Bath Eau de Toilette: A quick review
February 10, 2021 Vancouver, BC, Canada
What it is: A fresh scent from the oh-so covetable Replica Maison Margiela fragrance collection.
The lineup of scents is said to be inspired by specific places and points in time.
This specific scent's "Provenance and Period" is Beverly Hills, circa 2005.
Beauty bonus: The rose notes in this fragrance are an absolute delight.
Beauty bummer: Those who were after a super soap scent may be disappointed.
Overall: Said to be inspired by the "warmth and relaxation of a hot bath," this eau de toilette is billed as boasting "comforting clean accords."
The fragrance includes notes of soap bubble accord, rose "superessence", white musk and coconut milk accord. The unisex scent is categorized as a "fresh floral."
Admittedly a bit wary of the soap angle, we were pleasantly surprised by this scent. The rose notes (a personal favourite) came through quite prominently, serving to make this eau de toilette more flowery than foamy bath water.
Wearing lightly on the skin, we found it to be a unique fragrance that left an impression. Safe to say, it's made it into the regular fragrance rotation!
Would recommend? Yes.

This is the type of outfit I could — and do — wear on repeat.
A turtleneck sweater, straight-leg jeans, a cool coat and a great handbag. Oh, and some fun shoes, too.
I wore this look last week while running to my office for a quick item pickup. It was the first outing for these new Allbirds Wool Pipers sneakers. They're super comfortable, fit true to size and have such a clean look.
Plus, I love that the brand goes big on sustainability (these are made from New Zealand wool).
I've been going through my closet lately looking for items to purge. I guess I'm at a clean-out phase with things, because I have a strong urge to make sure my closet only contains pieces like these that I absolutely adore.
While that usually means items that I wear on repeat, it also includes some items that maybe don't exactly get regular wear — but still bring me a whole heap of joy when I come across them. I'm sure I'm not alone in this consideration. At least, I hope I'm not. ;)
If you have any tips for paring down your closet, I'd love to hear them.
