What it is: A collection of long-wear matte lipsticks from the French brand YSL in a slim, compact design.
Beauty bonus: The colour selection is on point — neutrals (without being boring) for days!
Beauty bummer: The diamond shape of the stick makes application a little awkward until you get a hang of it.
Overall: This lipstick updates the matte movement by adding in pearl shimmer for a little something extra.
It almost has a stain-like consistency on lips it’s so smooth thanks to the formulation containing mallow flower extract. We found we could amp up the colour by applying with a heavy hand or get the soft blurred editorial effect by applying a little lighter and blending out.
While we didn’t find it to be the most long wearing, we didn’t mind re-applying this comfortable formula.

A good coat is an essential element of experiencing winter in Canada.
Even though we don't get the extreme cold that other cities in this country get, Vancouver can get pretty chilly. Especially when you factor in the dampness.
I recently ventured to Harrison Lake for a small getaway (pre-regional travel restrictions, of course) and I was so grateful for the warmth and waterproof properties of this made-in-Canada Exploratrice coat from Kanuk.
The Montreal-based brand released a limited-edition collection this year honouring its designs from the '70s — hence the name Heritage 1970. Celebrating the brand's milestone 50th anniversary, the collection of outerwear for men and women offers cool, throwback silhouettes in a selection of interesting hues.
And, did I mention they're super warm? ;)

It's a universal truth that you can never go wrong with a good gold necklace.
Whether a bold design or a dainty chain, a gold piece becomes a keepsake jewelry item that can be worn and loved for years to come.
I've slowly been building my gold necklace collection, recently adding this vermeil (that's 18-karat gold over sterling silver) necklace from Mejuri.
The design is heftier than a simple slim chain and a perfect length. It's just what my existing necklace layering stack was missing. Plus, it makes a shining statement when worn overtop of a turtleneck sweater (a look I'm also loving lately!)
I wore it recently with the solid-gold herringbone bracelet (also from Mejuri) that my sister bought me as a bridesmaid gift for her wedding this summer. Because, sometimes it's nice to be a little matchy-matchy.
The holiday season is just around the corner. So, that means my mind is drifting toward all things sparkle.
Even though it looks like holiday parties and big family get-togethers will be on hold for this year, that doesn't mean we can't still embrace a little bit of seasonal shine.
Canadian style expert Meredith Shaw has teamed up with the Canadian ethical accessories line Femme Faire to create a limited-edition holiday hair accessory. Called the MEREband, the knotted hairband features a sequin-covered striped design.
It's the perfect piece to add some effortless holiday cheer to your virtual holiday events — or even Zoom meetings. Because, hey, at this point ... we could all use a little dose of sparkle.
Shop the look: The MEREband launches here on the Femme Faire website on Nov. 15!
What it is: A collection of pressed pigments and shadows in a variety of different colour collections and sizes to create pro-MUA inspired looks.
Beauty bonus: The glitter pressed pigments are seriously comparable to luxury brands.
Beauty bummer: Not a bummer, just a reminder that as will all shadows, a primer amps up the staying power and colour payoff.
Overall: NYX got it right with these eyeshadow formulas.
The mix of different finishes (matte, satin and foil) and the curated colour stories are super — from their smaller edit version all the way to the ultimate Utopia collection. We thought the dark shadows had good colour payoff and very nice blend-ability (but they did fade a bit through the day). The foils and medium shades were our go-tos.
We seriously loved the versatility of the shade range. Overall, these pallets are accessible for tight budgets or those who want to try a variety of finishes, all the way to hardcore makeup fans that want high-performance shadows.

It'd be the worst-kept secret in the world to admit that I love blazers.
In fact, a quick search of my blog yields dozens (perhaps even hundreds) of posts featuring the business-inspired toppers. I would even go so far as to say a combination of jeans, a blazer and either a tank top or turtleneck, depending on the season, is my own personal take on a uniform.
So, I'm always on the lookout for a chic new piece.
After purchasing the Agency Blazer from Babaton earlier this year, I decided to try it out in plaid. I received the same size as I chose in the beige version (a size M) and found it fit perfectly. While I found it a tad smaller than the beige one, it is still oversized enough to achieve the look I had hoped for.
I paired it with a pair of cropped-flair leather pants from J Brand and a black turtleneck from Le Chateau, as well as a few Chanel accessories. As I've been wearing so much loungewear of late, I joked on Instagram that this was my Halloween costume, where I dressed up as a former version of myself.
I was only half joking.
