Winter dressing can sometimes feel like an endless routine of layers, layers, layers.
But, adding a cool coat into the mix can really freshen up the season's fashion. Here are my five favourite coats that are worth investing in — and wearing for years to come.
A classic wool coat
A wool coat with in a classic shape and colour is a good investment piece for any winter wardrobe. It can be easily dressed up or down, working for a variety of life events throughout the years. I prefer to pick a style that has a slightly relaxed or oversized fit so that it will work well over time
A punchy puffer
A puffer coat is an essential piece for the cold Canadian winters. Rather than pick a basic black, I love the idea of an option in a fun, punchy hue. A bold red makes a bold statement, while also being surprisingly easy to pair with other wintertime pieces.
A fashionable faux fur
Another piece that can go from day to night, a faux-fur jacket can add an element of glamour to your wintertime looks. I love a good leopard print, but a slightly shaggy, all-black iteration is always fabulous, as well.
A leather trench
Trench coats are great transitional outerwear pieces. A leather version adds an elevated aspect to the timeless topper. Not to mention a piece that you can keep in your wardrobe forever.
A chic shacket
A shacket, whether short or long is a great addition to one's wardrobe. I love an oversized, wool or wool-blend option for a cosy-chic vibe that works from fall to winter and even into early spring.
