La Prairie Skin Caviar Powder: A quick review

La Prairie Skin Caviar Powder: A quick review

What it is: Two skin-perfecting products from the luxury skincare brand La Prairie that see the cult-status Caviar Extract ingredients added into a Powder Foundation and a Loose Powder.

Beauty bonus: From the packaging the the performance, these products are a truly luxurious treat.

Beauty bummer: We found the formulas skewed more toward the matte than "luminous" finish.

Overall: Full confession — the opportunity to use any La Prairie product is an indulgent experience for us. After all, it's not every day we spend hundreds of dollars on top-tier luxury skincare products.

So, needless to say, when these powders crossed our desks, we were nearly giddy with delight.

The compact Powder Foundation gave skin a matte finish with medium coverage (it's easily buildable for more or less) and felt comfortable on this skin. Despite the product packaging promising a matte and luminous finish, as mentioned above, we found it skewed more toward matte.

The Loose Powder was a fast favourite for us, working overtime in our makeup kits to smooth skin, banish shine and even acting as a setting powder. Unlike some loose offerings, we didn't find this luxe product settled into fine lines. Its just had our skin looking smooth. Love it!

While these products are sure to be smooth operators no matter the type of brush you use to apply them, we loved these La Prairie brushes. The handles are thick and sturdy and the densely packed synthetic brushes felt soft on skin and made blending a breeze.

Would recommend: The Loose Powder? Absolutely. The Powder Foundation? Maybe not.
