It's funny, I've lived in B.C. for almost 10 years, and yet I've only been to Whistler a handful of times.

But, I guess that just makes it all the more special when I DO get to go there ... right? At least that's the way it felt when I went to the mountain resort for a weekend getaway earlier this month.

For our hotel, we stayed at the Crystal Lodge in Whistler Village. The updated hotel is super central (as in steps from the main Village walkway), has friendly service and a fun pool for lounging in after a day of shopping and exploring.

For food, we enjoyed an amazing burger at the Beacon Pub (photographic evidence above), a delicious dinner at Basalt Wine + Salumeria (try the baby kale Caesar salad!) and a fantastic breakfast at Fifi's Bistro in the Upper Village.

As for adventures, in the summer months, Whistler is home to outdoor enthusiasts who love to hike and mountain bike. With so little spare time during our weekend stay, we decided to forgo the former and instead took a ride on the Peak 2 Peak gondola. The experience — and the view — was eye-opening, to say the least.

Before our time in Whistler came to a close, we headed to Scandinave Spa, where we spent a few glorious hours making our way through the signature hydrotherapy treatments. It was the perfect way to wrap up a very perfect weekend.

I can't wait to go back!
