Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez: A quick review

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez: A quick review

What it is: A new beauty line by Selena Gomez that aims to create a "safe, welcoming space in beauty and beyond."

Beauty bonus: We love how smooth these formulas feel. They're very lightweight and blend-able.

Beauty bummer: The 4-in-1 face mist wasn't our favourite. As a makeup setting spray, we found it left our skin feeling a bit dry not long after use.

Overall: Celebrity-backed skincare brands are aplenty these days. And, we're a-OK with it. So long, of course, as they have a little something new to offer.

Thankfully, we found this launch from multi-hyphenate celebrity Selena Gomez delivers on that note.

Staying true to the current trend of minimalistic, monochrome packaging, the Rare Beauty lineup hits all of the current beauty product requirements — Instagram-able packaging, good pigmentation, an inclusive shade range for skin products and a good matte lip formula.

We loved several products from the lineup including the Lip Soufflé, Liquid Luminizer and Liquid Blush. The products have such a nice texture, oversized, firm doe-foot applicator and colour payoff. We loved how easy they were to apply. A small amount of each yielded a nice veil, while extra additions gave more of a pop (without a weighty feel).

The liquid lip colour, which has the staying power of a stain with a soft, featherweight feel is one we'll definitely be buying again.

Would recommend? Yes
