What they are: A denim style from the Khloe Kardashian-backed brand Good American, the Good Waist jeans promise a gap-free waist band, slimming silhouette and a high rise.

Overall: I'd hummed and hawed over whether or not to buy a pair of Good American jeans.

Was I simply interested because of all the Kardashian-backed hype? Probably. But was I also intrigued by the idea of a skinny jean that promised not to gape out at the back where my, ehem, bigger-than-average butt begged for a little more room? Definitely.

Well, during a recent trip to NYC, while on a mission to pick up a few more pairs of my favourite Levi's Wedgie Jeans at Bloomingdales, I tried on the Good American Good Legs and Good Waist styles.

The made-in-Los Angeles jeans typically have a fabric content mix of cotton/polyester/elastane, which gives them some stretch for comfort, but also helps them keep their shape with repeat wear.

I'm typically a size 30 in all jeans, unless there's a fair amount of stretch in them and then I can sometimes squeeze into a 29. So, I grabbed a size 8 and a size 10 in both styles and was pleasantly surprised to find an 8 worked best in both versions.

While I liked the fit of both styles, I ultimately chose the Good Waist because I preferred the higher rise (I found it to be super flattering) and the wash.

With the first wear, I was surprised to find how they don't stretch out. Like, no bagging or sagging in the knees or waist — at all. I wore them a few more times to be sure the no bagging was correct, and I'm happy to report these stretchy jeans keep their shape, while still being comfortable.

And the best part? They don't gape at the side seams either like some skinny jeans do. Plus, the lack of a billowy fold at the waistband was a nice touch too.

Would recommend? Yes! From the fit, to the fact that they don't stretch out with wear — I'm very happy with these jeans and will definitely buy another pair.
Price: $158-$200
