Let's face it, I'm not exactly a snow boot-wearing kind of gal.

Sure, I'll wear full-blown winter boots on the sky hill, or ... well, that's pretty much the only place I'll wear them.

So, you can imagine the footwear problem I was faced with during the recent snow days in Vancouver. I didn't want to wear my usual boots (hello, salt stains!), and regular sneakers just wouldn't cut it.

Cue: these winter-rated high-tops from Vans.

The Sk8-Hi MTE shoes feature extra lining and are waterproofed, so you can have dry feet — while still looking stylish.

I think the key to successfully styling a pair of high-top sneakers is to play it safe with sporty silhouettes, but add an element of surprise with unexpected textures or textiles.

That's exactly what I tried to do by pairing my Vans with a pair of leather leggings and a chic turtleneck. The dressed-down were instantly given a dose of glam thanks to these two additions — and the Gucci bag didn't hurt, either. ;)

Happy Wednesday and thank you for staying by.
