Tourist style

I spent last week in New York City on holiday.

Though I was just in NYC last month covering NYFW, I took the opportunity to take advantage of a few touristy things I've skipped on my previous visits.

One such stop on my holiday to-do list (yes, I make those!) was a morning trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

I'm not one for big crowds, so I forced my sister to get up at the crack of dawn to make sure we made the first ferry to the monuments.

And let me tell you, it was worth it.

We breezed through the two destinations, soaking up all the history and scenery that we could before the massive crowds arrived. But, if I'm being completely honest, I would have braved the crowds if I had to because making a stop at these two locations was a big deal to me.

Growing up largely in the U.S. and having distant relatives who immigrated through Ellis Island, the trip held special sentiment for me.

It reminded me how lucky I am to be able to call North America — and especially Canada — home. (Ps: Fellow Canadians, don't forget to vote today!)

Anyway, enough of the serious stuff. Happy Monday and thank you for stopping by!
