- Sail away in a sailor-inspired silk shirt ... No boat required. -
- Pair with a sharp, structured coat or blazer to minimize the whole circus-tent look -
- Put your best face forward with a pretty pink pout -
I bought these sailor-inspired skinnies from Forever 21 with the plan to pair them with a tucked-in tube top and a pair of flats ... a perfect choice for an evening concert or café lunch.
I found dressing them up, however, to be a bit of a challenge.
In the end I chose a loose white button-up tucked in at the front to show the denim's detailing with the tails out in the back.
Killer accessories including a pair of Aldo Destime heels and a Fendi purse help to package this outfit into a perfect option almost any occasion.
Made of shells and crystal beads, it adds an air of opulence to my favourite area, which makes me feel at once at ease and inspired.
I love the idea of having beautiful furniture and lighting in one's home ... and especially in one's dressing area. And it doesn't have to come at a budget-busting price. This delicate fixture cost me just less than $50.
So, go ahead ... add something beautiful to your living space ... inspire yourself and your wardrobe.
Because, let's face it ... if you're not excited about what you're wearing ... you can guarantee nobody else will be either.
This Fendi B handbag is one of the cornerstone pieces in my
collection.
I hold it near and dear to my heart neither because of its value
nor its design, but rather because it was one of the first designer handbags I ever
purchased.
I picked it up some years ago at a designer consignment shop in La
Jolla, California and continue to love it for its luxe detailing and
over-the-top design.
Though I hate to admit it, this bag rarely sees the light of day
because it's rather impractical to carry. Instead it sits stuffed with paper,
in its dustbag awaiting the day when I choose to carry it -- a day that will
likely never arrive.
Nevertheless, it's a joy to own and even more fun to photograph.
I felt compelled to showcase an option to MAXI-mize summer's IT-skirt -the maxi- and transition it into fall.
This lightweight polyester-cotton blend skirt from Forever 21 is the perfect weight to sail into the cooler months.
Because I'm wide in the shoulders and in the hips, I wanted to create a larger silhouette on the top in order to streamline the look through the middle.
I chose a men's Perry Ellis tailored shirt in a crisp white and anchored the look with a thick, black leather, corset belt from Nordstrom.
A chunky pendant by Alexis Bittar adds a bit of glamour and polish.
To me, there are a nearly limitless amount of acceptable shoes options for an outfit such as this. If it's still warm but a little windy, a great pair of gladiators would work. If the weather has thoroughly transitioned into fall, then some kick-butt combat boots would add a killer, 90's vibe.
Because let's face it ... nobody like to lose their summer staple to the summer!
Basic high-waist, indigo skinnies from Forever 21 and my staple Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch, along with stack-able bangles frame this outfit with just enough of a "I-thought-ahead-about-my-outfit-and-accessories" type look to be a success.
The shoes and shirt are by far the standout in this little piece of hipster chic.
Black, patent leather oxfords by Jessica Simpson are a cute and comfortable option ... and are shiny enough to wear for a night out.
The top is a clearance-rack purchase from Forever 21 for $3.99 and has been one of those "closet-sitters" ... you know ... the kind that take up a spot in your closet and you're unsure when you'll ever get around to wearing it. But I finally did.
