It's official: the athleisure trend is still going strong.

And the strength of the sport-inspired sartorial movement means that it's basically guaranteed that we all have at least one pair of track pants in our closets.

But, how do you wear such a sporty style in a more formal setting? By following these three simples steps ...

1. Go dressy on top. Skip the denim topper or a T-shirt in favour of a top that sports some serious style. I love an on-trend pieces with frills or an off-the-shoulder cut (or both together!) like the one I'm wearing above. It keeps the look from coming across as too literal — and oh-so on trend. 

2. Find the perfect fit. Too-tight track pants look like a throwback to younger (read: fitter) days, while a baggy pair looks too literal ... and sloppy. I like a style that's slightly loose but with a tailored, slightly tapered bottom. Throw in a cuff and a great pair of heels for extra polish. 

3. When in doubt, go monochromatic. Opting for one hue immediately ups the style factor of any look — even when the lower half of your look is suited for the gym.
