How to wear brocade ankle boots

When I first bought these boots, I kind of struggled with how to wear them.

Should I try to go monochrome in order to make the the focus? Should I dress them up? Should I dress them down?

All the options left me feeling a bit confused — and were a contributing factor to why I didn't find myself wearing these brocade beauties on the regular.

But I think I've discovered the key to wearing busy boots like these ones. Just pretend they're your favourite sneakers.

What I mean by that is, dress them down with cool denim and a cozy sweater and it's a combination that is basically a fashion failsafe.

Here are a few quick rules I've been following when it comes to wearing ankle boots:

1. Wear them with classic pieces like your favourite jeans or trousers for a more lived-in feel.

2. Don't worry about being too matchy-matchy. If the boots stand out from your look — that's OK!

3. When in doubt, go monochrome. If you're feeling like you want to play up the boots, pick a colour that's present in the pattern or brocade and match your outfit to that for a chic appeal. 

And now that I've figured it out, I'll be wearing them on repeat. ;)
