Garnier Moisture Bomb Hydrating Mask: A quick review

Garnier Moisture Hydrating Bomb Mask: A quick review

What it is: A hydrating face mask that features hyaluronic acid, pomegranate and "a half of a bottle of hydrating serum."

Beauty bonus: This sheet mask packs a powerful punch of hydration to skin at a price point that's well below it's performance level.

Beauty bummer: The masks are recommended for 15-minute wear. Could be a bit shorter, if we're being super picky.

Overall: Sheet masks continue to be a hot commodity in the skincare realm. And it's easy to see why!

The portable masks (these ones are made of natural cellulose) can be applied at home or — anywhere, really — (we love applying them on a long-haul flight, no matter how weird it looks!) and produce some seriously skin-plumping benefits.

We loved this version from Garnier. From the cooling sensation on the skin to the scent, and the feeling of soft, hydrated skin post-use, it's a complete keeper.

Would recommend? Yes! These masks are worth stocking up on.

Benefit They're Real! Double The Lip Lipstick Primer & Liner in One: A quick review

Benefit Double The Lip Lipstick Primer & Liner in One and Duo Eyeshadow Blender review

What it is: Two new additions to Benefit's popular They're Real! collection, the Double The Lip Lipstick Primer & Liner in One uses a two-tone lipstick to provide a subtle plumping effect, while the Duo Eyeshadow Blender provides the appeal of two-toned eyeshadow in one sweep.

Beauty bonus: We LOVE the shade combinations on offer in the Double the Lip line. Our favourite? Lusty Rose.

Beauty bummer: We didn't find the eyeshadows worked too well in terms of providing dual shadow shades.

Overall: This collection has long been a favourite of ours — the They're Real! mascara is not to be missed!

So, when we saw there were two new products in the line, we knew we would eventually be checking them out.

The Double the Lip sticks were a true treat, providing definition and a subtle plumping (not to mention, a variation on the oh-so popular ombre lip trend!) in one easy sweep.

While we wanted to love the eyeshadows (it's SUCH a cool idea!), especially given how good the hues are, we weren't blown away by their performance. The overall effect of the shadows when using the slightly bulbous applicator was a smokey effect that just didn't seem to stick.

Would recommend? The lipstick? Yes! But the shadow? Not so much.
Price: $26 (lipstick) and $31 (eyeshadow)

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer: A quick review

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer: A quick review

What it is: A collection of concealers formulated with Optimal Diffusion powder, which helps to blur and cover imperfections.

Hyaluronic acid, peptides and skin-nourishing vitamins and anti-oxidants round out the mix to leave skin better than before application. Available in 16 skin tone-matching shades.

Beauty bonus: Smooth to apply and very blendable, this concealer is a nice formula.

Beauty bummer: While this concealer is billed as full coverage, we did have a couple stubborn spots that peeked through a bit. But honestly, this wasn't so much of a bummer for us. A little variation in skin pigment makes faces look human and not like plastic.

Overall: We've all tried those concealer that leave eyes looking like they are made of slightly glossy crepe paper. All of our fine lines laid bare – hello, nightmare!

This concealer manages to do the opposite. The product skips the cake-y, heavy look of other concealers and feels very light weight on the skin.

We found a brush or finger application and sponge to blend worked well. As with any cream product, a powder is needed to set the product to prevent creasing, but after doing this, we were good to go for the entire day.

Would recommend? Yes. It offers natural, buildable coverage that can conceal even the most stubborn of spots.

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant: A quick review

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant: A quick review

What it is: A powder-format facial exfoliator that, when mixed with water, creates a paste to gently scrub away dead skin cells.

The "highly active resurfacer" ingredients including Activated Binchotan Charcoal to leave skin brighter, more smooth and protected against damaging pollutants.

Beauty bonus: Along with leaving the natural moisture barrier of skin intact, this scrub leaves skin feeling squeaky clean. We're into that. In a big way.

Beauty bummer: A small complaint because the scent is really quite mild, but it's a little on the powdery side.

Overall: When we poured this scrub into our hands we weren't sure it was going to be exfoliating enough for us because the dark grey granules feels super fin. We were wrong!

The micro-scrubbers in this formula mean business! (And a little goes a long way!)

This scrub makes skin feel buttery smooth. It's not harsh or abrasive at all, and can be used every day.

The scrub gently exfoliates to leave skin glowing — without feeling stripped. If your facial cleanser doesn't have exfoliators, or you just need a little more for the winter months, this one is a great choice.
Would recommend? Yes. Our skin felt unbelievably soft post-use.

Current Covets: Crossbody bags

I'm a sucker for a great crossbody bag.

But there are a few things that make a bag better than others. I'm a fan of luxe leather, a usable size (not too big, not too small) and a comfortable chain length — to name a few.

While this Gucci Arabesque bag undoubtedly fits the bill on all three of these criteria, I couldn't help myself from looking around to see what else is out there this season.

Take a look at a few of my favourite new crossbody bags below!

Happy Friday — and even happier shopping.
