Flash back

Spring date outfit idea off the shoulder top and flared trousers Vancouver fashion blogger Le Chateau

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm kind of loving the '70s vibe that's all over the place right now.

From the return of flared trousers, to billowy off-the-shoulder tops, I'm digging the throwbacks from the era — one that I never thought I liked that much before.

But that's the thing about style revivals, you can have such strong feelings about a garment the first time around, and then when you see it again, it's like a whole new trend altogether.

Case in point, this off-the-shoulder top and flared trousers look. While I think the pieces themselves are pretty timeless, you have to be careful not to let the pairing get into pirate (or parody!) territory with modern accents such as a double-buckle belt and a mini bag.

Because looking like you're wearing an old trend re-imagined is cool and all, but looking like you're just wearing something, well, old — not so much.

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by.
