Shoe love: Sanuk Canada

Sanuk Canada Katlash shoes

I'm forever on the prowl for a spring-forward shoe that can replace my tried-and-true ankle boots when the weather warms up.

And while I've been loving my classic Vans slip-ons lately, I always feel a bit more dressed up when I'm sporting a shoe that features a pointed toe.

So, when I stumbled upon these Katlash slip-ons from Sanuk Canada, earlier this season ... I knew I had to have them.

L'Occitane giveaway + Vancouver event

Makeup Monday is getting a BIG boost thanks to an exciting giveaway and beauty event announcement!

This Friday (May 1), I will be hosting an in-store event at the newly renovated L'Occitane store at 3051 Granville Street in Vancouver.

Weekend shop: Denim dreams

Spring denim trends 2015

I know I'm not alone when I say I'm feeling denim crazed this season.

Let's face it — jean on jean on jean on ... (you get the point!) is EVERYWHERE.

So what better way to ring in the weekend than with a look at some of spring's hottest styles.

Happy shopping and thanks for stopping by!

Le Chateau ankle boots

Le Chateau leather ankle boots

I don't know if it's because of the whole #normcore trend giving everyone the free pass card to dress down with their shoes, or whether I'm having a bit of a personal height crisis — but I've been pushing myself in the opposite direction, by trying to wear more heels.

To be honest, I think it's because I have so many damn high heels in my closet that sit unworn while my Vans slip-ons, Celine loafers and bevy of ankle booties remain in heavy rotation. It annoys me. Seriously.

But whatever the cause may be, I've been stepping out in more heeled shoes lately — including these leather ankle boots from Le Chateau.

While I find them a tad touchy after a full day of work/commuting, they add so much style to my work wardrobe that I can overlook the pain. Most of the time.

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!

Avène Eau Thermale: A quick review

Avène Eau Thermale: A quick review

What it is: A hydrating spritz for the face (and body!) to soothe and replenish skin's dewy appearance.

Beauty bonus: This water is bottled straight from a spring in France, so the first time it sees the light of day is when you dispense it onto your skin! #cool.

Beauty bummer: None! Who doesn't want a refreshing spray that has no chemicals and gives a restored look?

Overall: The Avene Eau Thermale is a skin-hydrating treat.

It's now a staple in our workout bags for a quick moisturizing burst. An added use? After a long day squinting at our computer screens, this mist is safe for renewing dry eyes, too!

We were pleased that the mist was completely fragrance free and once absorbed, left us feeling nothing but clean and refreshed.

Would recommend? Yes.

Weekend shop: Hot summer sandals

The temperature is slowly creeping into sandal territory (yippee!), and I've already got my eye on more than one pair of hot summer sandals.

Shop a few of my faves above.

Happy weekend and thank you for stopping by!

How to wear a blanket scarf

Aritzia blanket scarf outfit idea all-white look Vancouver fashion blogger

I constantly get confused with coats in spring.

Do I opt for my wintertime wools, lightweight rain gear or something in between? I can never decide — and my indecision usually leaves me wet and/or cold by the end of the day.

Cue: blanket scarves to the rescue.

I didn't really expect to get so much wear out of this oversized scarf (see it styled again here) much past winter, but I have been very pleasantly surprised with its transitional prowess this spring.

Blanket scarves are just cozy enough when layered over a spring trench for crisp mornings, and are much easier to stuff into my bag on my way home when the temp warms up.

Uh oh. You know what this means ... I'm probably going to run out and get another one — or two. Just for extra options. And because I may need it. You know ... (sigh)

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!

Vichy Idealia Eyes Eye Contour Idealizer: A quick review

Vichy Idealia Eyes Eye Contour Idealizer: A quick review

What it is: A 2-in-1 anti-aging eye treatment and illuminator that promises to reduce dark circles and smooth fine lines.

Beauty bonus: The product has a smooth, non-greasy texture that blends easily into skin leaving little residue.

Beauty bummer: Be careful how you apply as it stings a bit if you get it in your eyes!

Overall: Vichy Idealia Eyes left our peepers feeling light and bright.

There was a definite lightening of skin with skin, even in the pesky under-eye area were dark shadows tend to creep in. The eye area was subtly plumped, which helped dark circles appear less defined.

While fine line smoothing wasn’t remarkable after a few uses, we’re willing to bet this powerful potion will fulfill its promises after the full 30 days.

Would recommend: Yes!

Power of My People

Power of My People Vancouver shirt blogger Covet and Acquire

I've always been a fan of classic button-down shirts.

Paired with crisp ankle trousers, torn jeans, skirts, shorts ... the possible pairings are endless.

So, when I heard about a new made-in-Vancouver brand called Power of My People, which exclusively makes menswear-inspired toppers for women, I had to check them out.

Offering several fits — from trim to oversized — the 100-percent cotton shirts are the perfect classic pieces that are guaranteed to become wardrobe staples for years to come.

Add in the fact that it's a local brand, which fulfills my ongoing goal to shop and support more local artisans and boutiques, and buying from Power of My People just seems like a no-brainer.

Instead of my usual Weekend Shop feature, check them out at www.powerofmypeople.com.

Happy Friday (we made it!), and thank you for stopping by.

Going Native

Native Apollo shoes Mini Coach Borough bag 424 Fifth hat

The idea of wearing running shoes beyond athletic activities never really appealed to me — until now.

The athleisure trend has made all forms of sporty footwear acceptable to the fashion crowd, and I'm embracing it, feet first.

I snagged these Native Apollo shoes shortly after they launched, and I have to admit, I'm over the moon with them. (Pun totally intended!)

They are lightweight, crafted from a cool microsuede material — and they make me feel pretty cool, too.

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!

Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist: A quick review

Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist: A quick review

What is it: A lightly scented fragrance for hair, inspired by the Fekkai technical colour care collection, that also adds shine.

Beauty bonus: Not only does this spritz add a hint of sweet scent, it fights annoying frizz, too. Yahoo!

Beauty bummer: It's yet another bottle to add to our beauty cabinets — or is it a better fit for the fragrance closet?

Overall: Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist is a fun way to freshen the scent of strands without the sometimes heavy feel of dry shampoo.

It would be a perfect tool for situations where stubborn smells linger in your coif ( a post-restaurant refresh, anyone?) and there's the added bonus of taming fly-aways!

Would I recommend? If you love the idea of a hair fragrance, then yes.

Leopard pleats

Express pleated midi skirt cashmere sweater spring outfit

— I don't think I'm alone when I say that pleated midi skirts are a wardrobe staple for spring and summer. They're so breezy and beautiful.

But what do when it's not quite warm enough yet to pair your pleats with soft t-shirts and silky tanks?

I opt for classic cashmere.

A luxurious cashmere piece adds a touch of chic — without the bulk of a knit. #longlivecashmere
