Oh, baby blue

Baby blue shopping picks from Vancouver blogger Covet & Acquire

Hot on the heels of my first Makeup Monday, I'd like to introduce Covet & Acquire's other new weekly feature — the weekend shop!

Whether it's Saturday, Sunday (or even Friday if I'm feeling like I can't wait that long!) I love to get my shop on after a long week at work — and hopefully you do too — because I'm now going to be featuring my favourite new shopping finds each week.

Think of it as your (and my!) personal shopping list. :P

Happy weekend — and even happier shopping!

Leather love

Isabel Marant Benny leather jacket

I'm a complete sucker for a great leather jacket.

Be it a beautiful bomber, modern moto or an amazing aviator like this one by Isabel Marant, I find it hard to resist a good leather topper — especially when it's on sale.

I mean, if it makes me feel like a chic Parisian, looks oh-so-cool draped over virtually any outfit and has a price so good it had me thinking #startthecar — let's just say I'm rendered powerless against its stylish charms. Not that I really mind. I found acquiring this aviator jacket was a very fulfilling feat.

Check out a few other aviator styles I'm currently coveting ... if you dare. :P

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!

Makeup Monday: The Body Shop 2-in-1 Smoky Gel Liner — A quick review

The Body Shop 2-in-1 Smoky Gel Liner — A quick review

In an attempt to better organize my Covet & Acquire editorial schedule, I have decided that Mondays will now be for makeup review.

Not only was the idea of "Makeup Monday" too good to resist because of my love of alliteration, I think dull and dreary Mondays are the perfect day to think about exciting — and often affordable — makeup finds.

So, without further ado, here is my first Makeup Monday post featuring The Body Shop 2-in-1 Smoky Gel Liner.

What is it: A gel liner that doubles as a brow definer. Enriched with Community Fair Trade Marula Oil, this liner will last with you all day long without budging.

Beauty bonus: The cute brush is integrated into the packaging making it an easy addition to our makeup bags.

Beauty bummer: Using the small brush for applying a gel liner takes a bit of practice.

Overall: This liner hit most of our marks for being a beauty booty win.

While one sweep is quite saturated, it needs a few coats for a true, jet black line. While build-able colour is is often an automatic fail in our beauty books, this liner's smooth consistency and fluid application makes us think twice about giving it a bad mark.

It did not flake throughout the day, leaving us with a fresh look even after all was said and done.

Would recommend: Yes.
Available at: The Body Shop
Price: $15

Weekend wardrobe

weekend wardrobe Wilfred Aritzia joggers

I'm not going to lie, this whole "athleisure" trend that has taken over the fashion world really appeals to the lazy side of my style.

No, I'm not going to start wearing my sweats to work — but the fact that I can wear a pair of stylish joggers, Nike Free Runs and a few flashy accessories to create a pulled-together weekend look is pretty OK with me.

I mean, I've always believed throwing a CHANEL bag over virtually any outfit just ups the overall chicness — and this outfit might just prove that theory correct.

Happy weekend and thank you for stopping by!

Benefit Puff Off Instant Eye Gel: A quick review

Benefit Puff Off Instant Eye Gel: A quick review

What it is: An under-eye gel in an innovative gel formula that helps to smooth and cool tired skin.

Beauty bonus: After application, this gel didn't settle into fine lines (yay!) and provided pretty, puff-free eyes all day long.

Beauty bummer: If a hit of moisture is what you're after, this product won't exactly replace your moisturizer.

Overall: This product is like a colour-correcting serum with an added bonus of de-puffing.

The cooling (and oh-so cute looking!) iron tip has that perfectly quirky Benefit-esque look, which acts to not only make you smile but adds to the application and de-puffing effect.

Would I recommend? Yes!
Available: Sephora and Sephora.ca
Price: $36

Plaid + leather

J Brand leather leggings outfit idea

I'm working from Toronto this week, and while it's quite a bit chillier here than back home in Vancouver, I actually brought this exact outfit along for the ride.

Not only are the J Brand leather leggings super chic, they are also surprisingly warm, which make them perfect for these sub-zero temps.

And while I brought a pair of rubber boots for the commute to the downtown office (OK, I'm staying two blocks away, so I can't really even call it a commute!), I made sure these snakeskin Sam Edelman ballet flats made it into my suitcase too.

What can I say, if I like an outfit, I wear it again and again and ... :P

Happy Tuesday and thank you for reading!

Bow details

InWear maxi sweater cardigan and Le Chateau bow heels

I don't often have the love-at-first-sight experience in stores ... at least not one strong enough that I feel compelled to purchase the item.

That's why, when it actually happens, I. Just. Can't. Say. No.

Case in point: this luxurious camel-coloured sweater coat and these amazing bow heels from Le Chateau.

While I wasn't really shopping for a maxi cardigan or strappy heels, I just couldn't leave these items at the store.

I imagine that I will wear this versatile maxi cardigan with just about everything — and don't even get me started on these heels.

The bow detail at the back feels fun and flirty, but in the front? They are all chic.

Happy weekend and thank you for stopping by!

Youngblood Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara: A quick review

Youngblood Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara: A quick review

What it is: A mascara promising a smudge-proof, non-flaking and long-wearing formula that give lashes a boost of conditioning and a punch of extra volume. This product is free of synthetic ingredients and parabens, is made from high-grade minerals and is also cruelty free (love it!).

Beauty bonus: This mascara goes on butter smooth and lives up to its claims of no smudging or flaking.

Beauty bummer: If you're looking for over-the-top spidery lashes, this product delivers lengthening but in a natural, non-clumpy way.

Overall: For a mineral cosmetic, which tend to have a slightly different consistency than their non-mineral counterparts, this product is impressive.

We loved that Youngblood Outrageous Lashes is free of chemicals and yet fills the requirements of our beauty needs.

At the end of the day, lashes looked defined and the mascara came off easily with soap and water.

Would recommend: Yes

Price: $27
Where to buy: Absolute Spa

In(vested) interest

Long grey wool vest coat TOPSHOP

Hands down, my favourite sartorial elements of winter are coats. But while I love tried-and-true toppers, I also absolutely adore vests.

And as if my ardour for these outfit add-ons wasn't enough, I also find them oh-so easy to wear with virtually every look.

Maybe that's why I find my vest collection currently includes this long grey wool TOPSHOP release, a Helmut Lang iteration and both black and white leather versions.

I'm either in love ... or a clothing hoarder. Well ... it could be a bit of both.

Happy Tuesday and thank you for stopping by!

Sunday shop: Modani dream room

Modani dream room

I'm forever fantasizing about ways to update — and upgrade — my living space.

So, when I stumbled upon the chic designs at Modani, I knew I had to take a closer look.

Centred around a stylish white sofa (dubbed the Bristol from the Modani's modern sofa collection), and statement-making black and white chairs, my luxurious dream space would be bold and stylish — with a hint of glam.

And an animal-print rug? An obvious must. It's something I've always wanted in my home but have yet to acquire.

I guess I will have to be on the hunt for one of my own.

Happy Sunday and thank you for stopping by!
