I'm a big believer in the age-old rule that if you're going to show off one asset, then it's best to keep the rest covered.
Case in point: this body-con Helmut Lang dress paired with a no-nonsense trench coat.
Not only was I glad for the extra coverage afforded by the topper at the time — it was a bit of a bad body day for me — but, looking back at the images, I think the contrasting lengths and proportions serve to create a much more interesting outfit than if I had just worn the clingy dress on its own. Win-win.
