Dog days: H&M chiffon dress and a Louis Vuitton BB Alma

H&M chiffon dress, J.Crew denim jacket and a Louis Vuttion BB Alma bag by Vancouver blogger Covet and Acquire.

If there are two things I always ask to borrow from my older sister, it's her adorable Shiba Inu puppy Bella and her equally adorable Louis Vuitton BB Alma bag.

Luckily I got my hands on both recently for a few hours while we played in the sun — and shot a few outfit photos, of course.

Happy weekend, everyone!

MAC Maleficent Penultimate liquid liner: A quick review

MAC Maleficent Penultimate liquid liner: A quick review Covet and Acquire Vancouver beauty blog

MAC Maleficent Penultimate liquid liner: A quick review Covet and Acquire Vancouver beauty blog

What it is: A liquid eyeliner with a super-fine precision tip for exact line work.

Beauty bonus: This liner goes on super smooth in one stroke.

Beauty bummer: The tip is ultra-fine, so take care not to press too hard!

Overall: We couldn't help but fall under the spell of this eyeliner just in time for the May 30 release of the new Disney film starring Angelina Jolie!

With its rich, one-pass for full-coverage black, it is the product that eye liner dreams are made of.

The Penultimate liquid liner stays true throughout the day, leaving you with the fiercest look in all the land.

Would I recommend? Yes!

Available: MAC locations

Price: $ 25.50

In line: Joe Fresh referee stripe silk pants and 424 Fifth

424 Fifth tank, Joe Fresh silk pants, H&M Icons leather jacket and Chanel Jumbo Classic

For as much as I love leather — I somehow find some some room on my list of sartorial loves for silk.

These wide-legged, referee-stripe pants  are just this side of costume-y thanks to the natural protein fibre.

Though I find it a little finicky to care for, there are few other fabrics out there that feel as nice on your skin.

What's your go-to fabric?

Keeping cool: Forever 21 culottes and TNA cropped jean tank

Aritzia crop top and Forever 21 culottes outfit by Vancouver fashion blogger Aleesha Harris of Covet and Acquire.
While we haven't exactly had a heatwave here in Vancouver yet this season — I'll be the first to admit that I rush to wear my sleeveless tops (and spring clothes in general!) as soon as the sun starts shining.

Case in point: This country-hipster cool outfit featuring ... of course, my new favourite bottoms — culottes

I can't seem to get enough of these oh-so-comfy pants. They are laidback, chic and surprisingly versatile.

#MyVegasStyle: 3 outfit ideas for a day in Las Vegas

As a self-proclaimed Las Vegas Veteran (read: all-too frequent flyer!), I feel confident saying that #MyVegasStyle is rather well developed. So when the team at Vegas.com asked me to share my Sin City style, I  happily agreed.

With a hypothetical stay at the fabulous Aria Resort in mind, I've put together three outfits that I would wear during a vacay in my go-to sunny destination. Take a look ...

— Morning —

#MyVegasStyle Good morning!

I know that my mornings on The Strip are best spent with a Starbucks coffee, scone and a giant bottle of water (for mid-morning hydration!) at the pool, soaking up some sun — and planning that evening's assault on the strip.

I would dress accordingly with a retro-chic bathing suit, stylish cover up — and sun-safe essentials such as shades, sunscreen and a hat. The only other thing missing from this picture? A library-sized stack of glossy magazines made up of equal parts fashion and celebrity gossip titles.

— Afternoon —

#MyVegasStyle — Shop on!

In my opinion, no visit to Vegas is complete without a bit of shopping (or as I sometimes like to call it: Coveting and Acquiring!) and seeing as the Aria Resort is mere steps from the extremely well-stocked CityCenter shopping complex, which boasts brand boutiques from the likes of Prada, Louis Vuitton and Hermes ... to name a few, (AKA: So not ideal for my savings account. :P) it's one daytime activity that I wouldn't dare miss.

After doing a little retail therapy, I'd head for a light, early dinner of  Italian meats and cheeses — and red wine, of course, at Sirio Restorante. Opting for a fashion-forward outfit like these culottes, cropped turtleneck and stacked-heel mules ensure I'm on-trend while also being on-dress code for dinner.

— Evening —

#MyVegasStyle — In the club!

Finally, I always finish my Las Vegas days with a healthy dose of Vegas nights.

You can find me in the club, Haze, here I come, bottle full of bub' ... sorry, I had to.

While I usually like to keep my Vegas evening outfits more low key than this, (think: all-black err-thang!), I couldn't help pulling this Kate Moss X TOPSHOP dress that I've been obsessed with since I first saw it in the collection previews.

After all, this is all hypothetical!

Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer: A quick review

Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer: A quick review
What it is: A sunless-tanning lotion that promises a no-fuss, streak-free application in three days — without the telltale self tanner odour.
Beauty bonus: Within three days of use we noticed a pretty skin shade without spending even a second in the sun.
Beauty bummer: This lotion is not as moisturizing as it claims. While it is thick and luxurious feeling out of the tube, we needed a regular lotion interlude after three days of  use in order to get our skin back up to snuff.
Overall: This is a nice self tanner that gives almost immediate results with only a hint of the odour of other self tanners.
We didn't notice even a hint of colour transfer on our sheets post-application, but make sure to wash hands after each use to avoid the Oompa Loompa-finger look.
As with any self tanner, a little prep work is necessary to provide a truly streak-free application (hello, exfoliator!)
Would recommend: Yes
Price: approximately $10
Where to buy: Drugstores and mass retailers nationwide

Holiday Monday: The blues

Forever 21 Lyocell swing tank and H&M Icons leather jacket by Vancouver fashion blogger Aleesha Harris of Covet and Acquire

Despite the tone of this post's headline, I don't have the blues ... I was actually referring to the colour of my fave new Forever 21 tank top. :P

I'm loving the return of sweet and sassy swing tanks — and in my favourite fabric called lyocell, this tank is going to be on serious repeat this summer.

Happy Victoria Day!

In the trenches: H&M trench coat and Coach Riley handbag

H&M trench coat, J.Crew indigo trousers and Coach Riley handbag by Vancouver fashion blog Covet and Acquire.
There's nothing more timeless than a classic trench. And in a lightweight crepe, this H&M iteration is surprisingly season-less too.

Which is exactly why I'm planning on packing this topper for my upcoming work trip to Ottawa. Now let's just hope the rest of my packing plans can be decided just as easily.

Essie neons 2014 Too Taboo collection: A quick review (with video)

Essie neons 2014 Too Taboo collection: A quick review (with video)
What it is: A new collection of six eye-popping neon shades by the nail polish mega-brand essie.

Beauty bonus: This range of shades is bright, fun and perfect for summer — we loved the orchid-inspired shade "too taboo" as well as the envy-inducing electric lilac colour dubbed "sittin' pretty".

Beauty bummer: Like most other essie polishes, the price is a tad steep.

Overall: For the diehard essie fan, this collection is a must-have.

We loved the gel-like shine produced by only two coats of each polish — and the extra-bright colours didn't hurt, either.

Whether you're looking for the perfect manicure colour for a holiday away, or are just ready for an everyday pick-me-up at home/work, these electric polishes just might do the trick.

Would recommend: Yes

Price: Approximately $8

Available at: Mass retailers

Check out the stop-animation movie I made with my fun new essie polishes:
